Dear Camp Ozark families:
In the past week our nation, particularly southeast Texas has been ravished by one of the worst natural disasters in our history, Hurricane Harvey. The damage from this vicious storm to individual families, including many Camp Ozark families, has been immense. While it has been gratifying to see the way that the city of Houston, other communities, the state of Texas and our nation have come together to respond to the immediate effects of the devastation, the long-term effect on families will be significant.
Many of you have inquired about the status of Camp Ozark families and many of you have asked what you can do to help. Accordingly, Camp Ozark and the Camp Ozark Foundation are teaming up to establish “Camp Ozark Cares” to provide specific aid to families affiliated with Camp Ozark as they begin the process of rebuilding their lives. This aid may take the form of rent, furniture replacement, transportation, child care, etc. One hundred percent of the money donated will be utilized to benefit families whose lives have been devastated. All administrative costs will be borne by either Camp Ozark or the Camp Ozark Foundation. Camp Ozark has already sent a truck and trailer filled with supplies that can begin to assist families in rebuilding. Sam and Susan Torn have jump started the financial contributions with a donation of $25,000.00 to “Camp Ozark Cares.”
We are asking that you consider joining us in this effort. Together we can assist those of our Camp Ozark family who are devastated and will be rebuilding their lives from the ground up.
